Bodily anatomy continues to be a recurring motif in Ocean’s work and represents her commitment to mastery of the stippling technique. The process of drawing realistic anatomical structures like the hand in this piece is seemingly straightforward but arduous and labour-intensive. Accuracy is paramount when reproducing a universally identifiable image.
